Sucralfate
Indications/Uses
Gastric & duodenal ulcers; acute & symptomatic chronic gastritis. Non-erosive GERD, acute radiation oesophagitis, preventing radiation-induced oral discomfort during & following RT. Prophylaxis of stress ulcer & recurrence in concomitant use w/ NSAIDs therapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 bag bid, morning & evening. Maintenance: 1 bag before bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ tetracyclines. May modify bioavailability of other drugs, give at least 2 hr interval.
Special Precautions
Renal impairment. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation (long-term use). Gastroenteric diseases, dry mouth, rash, itching, vertigo, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
May build-up complex salts w/ relative inactivation of antibiotics w/ tetracyclines.
